About Me

Coach John Michael Santulli has been coaching at both the college and high school levels for over thirty years.  A graduate of Saint Joseph’s University, where he served as a men’s basketball manager while a student, Coach Santulli started his coaching career at Caldwell University, helping to lead the Cougars to four conference championships and national tournament appearances.  During his time at Caldwell, Coach Santulli also served as Assistant Athletic Director for five years and was in charge of recruiting the Bergen County/Passaic County region, where he recruited STACK’s own Ryan Tremblay.  Coach Santulli also earned his Master’s Degree in Education during his time at Caldwell.

After ten years at Caldwell, Coach Santulli made the move to the high school ranks, joining legendary coach Curtis March at Teaneck High School. As the Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach for five seasons, Coach helped the Highwaymen win two Group 4 State Championships.

Coach Santulli then became the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Clifton High School in 2003.  At the helm of the Mustang program, Coach Santulli led Clifton to its first Passaic County Final 4 in over thirty years.

In order to be closer to home and spend more time with his young children, John Micheal became the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Westwood High School in 2007.  During his fourteen years at Westwood, Coach Santulli built the Cardinals into one of the most respected programs in Bergen County, achieving sustained success previously unseen at the small Bergen County high school.  Known for their tough defense and fundamentally sound offensive style, the Cardinals regularly qualified for the Bergen County Jamboree under Santulli.  A four-time league Coach of the Year at Westwood, the Cardinals advanced to the North 1 Group 2 State Sectional Final three times under Santulli.  Coach Santulli left Westwood in 2021 as the school’s all-time winningest coach in boys basketball history.

Most recently Coach Santulli served as the Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach at Midland Park High School.  During his one year at Midland Park, working under his own former assistant coach Adam Sidrow, Santulli helped lead the Panthers to an unprecedented season of success.  The Panthers won the BCSL Patriot Division, going and undefeated 14-0.  They qualified for the Bergen County Jamboree and advanced all the way to the North 1 Group 1 State Sectional Finals.

Coach Santulli currently resides in Westwood, New Jersey with his wife Kim and their two sons Micheal Ray and Jack, who both attend Villanova University and work as student managers for the Wildcat men’s basketball team.

Coach Santulli is excited to join the staff at STACK Basketball and share his experience and knowledge of the game.
