Played Division 1 basketball at New Orleans University.
Has coached and trained over 50 college basketball players.
“My goal is to develop complete student-athletes.”
Coach Maria comes to STACK after creating and successfully running the Ring City AAU basketball program since 2007. Her basketball background comes from having played Division I basketball at the University of New Orleans in the early 90’s, as well as coaching at various high schools in Chicago and Northern New Jersey.
Most recently, she was the head coach of DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, NJ. During her 4 seasons (2009-2014) as head coach, the Spartans won 2 Big North League titles, 2 Passaic County titles and a Sectional State title. In her inaugural year as head coach at DePaul both the Passaic County Coaches Association and the Star Ledger named her Passaic County Coach of the Year.
In 2014, she decided to put her high school coaching career on hold to concentrate on raising her 3 young children and to focus on coaching AAU basketball at the grassroots level.
Today, Coach Maria continues to offer each player a solid foundation to the game while building well-rounded relationships with everyone involved in the development of the complete student athlete. Since she was coaching AAU in 2007, she has assisted over 50 young women reach their dreams of playing collegiate basketball at the NCAA Division I, II or III levels.
Maria is a proud Mom of 3 and resides in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Her oldest son Ron Harper Jr. recently received a full scholarship to Division 1 Rutgers University, where he will carry on the already stellar Harper basketball legacy.
