Setting goals and working toward them is one of the most crucial aspects of being a successful young athlete. All outstanding young athletes take some time to not only consider but also jot down the goals they wish to attain over the span of their careers. Goal setting is one that should be considered seriously, and it should be objectives that you can accomplish. One of the most valuable aspects of youth sports is that many players establish goals and strive to achieve them, a mentality that can be transferred to any endeavor in life.

Setting goals entails determining clear, quantifiable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound objectives. Goals give you a sense of purpose and direction. In addition, setting goals takes advantage of the brain’s incredible abilities: Our minds are goal-accomplishing and problem-solving machines.

I practiced writing goals in my own diary when I was growing up and running diligently to become a tremendous athlete. The majority of the goals I listed in my diary was achievable, but a handful was not. The goals, in my opinion, should be ones that you have a high chance of achieving. An excellent realistic aim may be to become your team’s top defensive player or to one day represent varsity high school basketball.

It is also essential that you give your diary a unique name. “My Path to a Sports Scholarship” was the title of my journal. The reason I titled my diary this is because I used to put objectives in it every day to encourage me to accomplish everything I could to obtain a sports scholarship in college. Your diary should be a location where you can establish objectives for yourself and write them down so you can revisit them again and again. Your diary serves as a planning process in which you put down all of the ambitions you want to attain as well as the steps you’ll take to get there.
